On February 14th, the precinct of Shahbag was taken over by over 3,000 activists rising for Revolution. The rising included a Photo Booth at which hundreds of participants added their faces and names to a pledge to actively prevent and stop violence against women. Street performances included a youth-led dance, story-telling, “Rukhey Darai” (stand up), interactive theater, and an art performance by Monica Bose. Prominently featured was a 15×70’ painting with icons and messages representing women and their strength. The evening closed with a debate organized by the Dhaka University Debating Society around issues of VAW. Apart from the main event at Shahbag, Dhaka, there were events held all over Bangladesh- in almost all towns and boroughs.
