Activists Will Rise and Dance From Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco City Hall

On Friday, February 14, San Francisco joins the global “One Billion Rising For Justice” campaign taking place in 184 countries (and growing) to demand justice and an end to violence against women and girls.

Last February 14, ONE BILLION RISING was the biggest mass action in human history when people in 207 countries came together to dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.  Tens of thousands of events took place produced by activists on the ground and the campaign took over media and social media worldwide for 48 hours, trending in 7 countries – 4 times in the US and UK alone. WATCH the award winning short film ONE BILLION RISING that just premiered at Sundance (featuring footage from San Francisco and hundreds of risings).

In 2014, One Billion Rising for Justice will build upon the energy and momentum that was created in 2013. This year’s campaign is a call to women, men, and youth around the world to gather on February 14, 2014 outside places where they are entitled to justice.

In the Bay area, over a dozen One Billion Rising for Justice events are being planned by activists; for a full listing, see: http://bit.ly/1klMHFQ
