“At Lagos Freedom Festival, we don’t just fight for change — we dance for it. Lagos stood still in awe as the Eyo Masquerades graced the Freedom Festival!

Clad in flowing white robes and dazzling hats, the Eyo symbolized the soul of Lagos — proud, mysterious, and enduring.

As the Eyo dancers swept through the festival grounds with their staffs (opambata) raised high, they carried the weight of history and the dreams of the future on their shoulders. This was more than a performance; it was a sacred ritual, a blessing, a reminder. The Eyo remind us of who we are and what we stand for: resilience, respect, and renewal.

In the heart of our modern calls for change, tradition stood tall and danced — teaching us that true freedom honors both our roots and our wings.”
