“Rising in red, dancing in unity, and running into the ocean with strength and purpose. Today, we honor the One Billion Rising movement, standing together to end violence against women and girls. In Byron Bay, we join a sisterhood of power, love, and resilience, as we celebrate the freedom to be bold, fierce, and free. Our dance is an act of defiance, a ritual of healing, and a promise to never back down. Together, we Rise. Together, we heal.” – Natalie Grono

“Around 140 women came together at Byron’s Main Beach this morning to dance, celebrate, and dip into the water as part of the annual V-Day flashmob. Women were wearing red, and dancing in defiance of violence against women and children. Co-organiser, Zenith Virago, says it is part of One Billion Rising, which is the ‘biggest mass action to end violence in human history’.” – Echo
