OBR Indonesia coordinator Triana Kurnia Wardani was a delegate at the recent COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan representing women and communities from the global south as part of PRCJ (People’s Rising for Climate Justice). They held climate finance actions raising the issue of financing grassroots climate actions. Triana also raised the issue of Agroecology as a real climate solution led by the people, and for whom COP is a space for people most affected by climate imperialism to campaign and advocate, as well as to connect to other networks and movements across the globe. While at COP, the alliance also organized an event called “Agroecology for Climate Justice: Stories from the global south” – where Triana gave a talk on interventions on how Agroecology practices is not only about Agricultural Production Practices, but that it is also about movement building – cross cutting issues about land, the people’s struggle and livelihood. This event was also organized together with the climate justice working group of APEX (Asia People Exchange For Food Sovereignty and Agroecology.

OBR Indonesia, led by SERUNI – the grassroots women’s groups of Indonesia, and of their women farmers in particular – have centered their One Billion Rising events and advocacy work around Rising for Agroecology and Climate Justice for many years. For OBR 2025, OBR Indonesia will be Rising Against Climate Imperialism.
