V-Day, One Billion Rising and Judson Memorial Church Host Daylong Educational and Inspirational Event Fuel Us with Information, Strategies, Solidarity and Energy to Ignite the Movement We Need Right Now
‘HOW WE DO FREEDOM: Rising Against Fascism’ Will Feature Speakers, Poets, Artists, Musicians & Activists
NEW YORK CITY – On Saturday, September 14, V-Day, One Billion Rising and Judson Memorial Church will host a daylong educational and inspirational event designed to fuel attendees with essential knowledge, strategies, solidarity, and energy to confront the growing threat of fascism and ignite the movement we need right now.
‘HOW WE DO FREEDOM: Rising Against Fascism’ will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, poets, artists, and activists who will unpack the manifestations of fascism both in the U.S. and globally and what we can do to combat it. Speakers will explore the impact on all of us from women’s bodies to anti-Blackness and the suppression of LGBTQ+ and the disabled, to the banning of books, erasing history and immigration bans, union busting, increasing violence and expansion of the police state, and the destruction of the Earth.
The event aims to educate and discuss the imminent threats to our rights and freedoms, particularly for those in marginalized communities, and provide participants with the tools, resources, and inspiration necessary to counteract fascism and champion a more equitable and just world.
