As part of the 16 Days of Activism, Sangeeta Nambiar launches One Billion Rising SINGAPORE 2017 with an original play – “Finally She Spoke” – at the Blackbox Theatre on 1 December, 2016.

Sangeeta has organized and coordinated V-Day events in Singapore as well as being a One Billion Rising advocate and coordinator, and an OBR artist.

FINALLY SHE SPOKE is a 90 MINUTE theatre presentation.

The play is a series of monologues and dialogues about women’s issues from all over the world. The result of several talks with women from across the world, FSS has zoned in on certain important conversations we need to have:

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
INCEST
THE DIVORCED WOMAN, THE HAGUE CONVENTION
MAN VS WOMAN
BADASS WOMEN
SEX TRAFFICKING

THE BREAST CHRONICLES
SEX AND THE WOMAN
FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION
FEMINISM IN FILMS

So the question we get asked is: Is it all doom and gloom? Why should it be? We’re speaking out about REAL issues that women face. These issues have become facts of life, almost scientific in nature. We’re points on a chart, data on pages. But as a gender, we’re stronger, more resilient. We have centuries of experience in, phoenix like, rising back up from the ashes. And today, when feminism is finally becoming a politically correct word, we’re finally beginning to reclaim our rights and create a change within every girl and woman. So it’s time to speak out and be heard. Some day, when women stand on par with men, we’ll trace it back to a time when Finally She Spoke!
