Samukelisiwe Khumalo, is a fierce V-Girl from Soweto, South Africa who has, on her own, curated Samu’s Sunday Summits, where she invites the girls in her neighborhood to meet once a month and talk about issues that face them – in their families, at school, amongst their friends. She sent in this update from a recent event she hosted:

On the 29th November I invited Karabo Tshikube to speak to the community of Dobsonville where I had a public dialogue program for the Official 16 Days of Activism, to discuss issues of women and children abuse or violence in our community. I was so happy that my sister Karabo came and she spoke well and everyone was so touched, and empowered by her words.

On Friday, the 4th December we had the closing party as the Samu Summit girls. We had so much fun. I tried my best to make that day extremely exciting and a nice outing for the girls, as they needed it. I was so happy to see them all having so much fun and it bought so much joy to me as they bond with each other.
