The following blog was prepared by OBR South Asia Coordinator Kamla Bhasin:

Celebrating human rights day and launching One Billion Rising 2016 in Bhubaneswar, India. It was organised by NAWO and over 100 NGO members of NAWO. It was supported by Action Aid, oxfam and Trocaire. The main organisers were ten alumna of Sangat month long courses and two country Hindi course. There were over 600 active participants at an open air public space. There were women and men also from people’s movements against destructive mining, and other projects destroying nature, from transgender groups, Dalit and Adivasi groups, poets, youth groups, children. A most inspiring and energising event. Two books on feminist women leaders of Orissa were also released. The four hour long event concluded with the One billion rising song -break the chain.
