Rising: Lesotho Rising By Lerato Ramailili

We had a gathering of about 30 young women and we shared our personal stories of the violence and abuse we have experienced. Many shared openly but most were happy to speak with a counsellor we had on site for the event. All the young women expressed joy at having a space for themselves to release their pain and break the silence in solidarity with others. Young women are marginalized from the bigger more established women’s movement which is comprised of older women who are not really interested in issues that matter to us. We are so excited and thankful for OBR because we are now able to address those justice issues we feel are important in ending violence against women and now we have an even bigger pool of sisters in southern Africa and around the world who will stand in solidarity with us. We are no longer alone!Lesetho 1 Lesotho 2 Lesotho 3 Lesotho 6
