The new Mexican production of “Annie” opened this year to great success at Teatro de los Insurgentes (produced by Claudio Carrera, Tina Galindo and OCESA). The cast lead by Lisardo (Oliver Warbucks), Kika Edgar (Grace Farrell), Paco Morales (President Roosevelt) and Mia Rubin Legarreta (Annie) have joined One Billion Rising because they believe the artistic community has a say in stopping violence against women and girls. “We raise our voices to bring integrity and peace to girls around the word” Kika Edgar stated. Also expressed so clearly by Mia who said “No one deserves to be treated with violence. Let’s stop violence against girls.” and Lisandro added “I’m joining because helping others you help yourself, that’s the foundation Of a better world.”

Along with other musical theater actors such as Carlos Rivera and Fela Dominguez (Simba and Nala from “Disney’s The Lion King”) and veteran Musical actress Gloria Aura (“Mamma Mia!” & “First Date”) and Sherlyn (“August: Osage County” & “From Heaven to hell”) they represent the artistic theater community saying: No More Violence towards Women and Girls.

Mexican actors join the OBR community with joy and with their passion for theater and touch the hearts of thousands of Mexicans hoping they inspire actors around the world to do the same.
