Kingston, New York – This Friday, February 14th, at the Old Dutch Church, One Billion Rising Ulster County presents Natalie Merchant as she introduces the premiere public screening of: SHELTER: A Concert Film to Benefit Victims of Domestic Violence. Natalie Merchant attended One Billion Rising Ulster County last February as part of an international event created to raise awareness of domestic violence. Moved by the event, Natalie vowed to raise awareness of domestic violence and funds for local shelters. The result was a powerful concert at Bard College’s Fisher Center last June with performances by Natalie and other local female musicians alongside advocates, criminal prosecutors, victims and survivors. The event was captured on film. After the film, there will be a panel discussion that will address the issue of domestic violence. This year, One Billion Rising Ulster County has invited representatives from Dutchess County to also join in the discussion of this worldwide crisis that requires a cooperative response.
