HONG KONG will be having their ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE earlier than most. It will be taking place this Sunday, February 9th. Erwiana is a domestic worker from Indonesia working in Hong Kong who was badly and severely tortured and beaten by her employer. She is now hospitalised and still in critical condition. Her case has enraged Asia. Hong Kong has one of the largest population of domestic workers from Southeast and South Asia. One Billion Rising Hong Kong is taking place this Sunday because Sunday is the only day off of the domestic workers. It is being led largely by migrant and domestic worker groups from the Philippines and Indonesia.

The event is jointly organized by Asian Migrant’s Coordinating Body,Gabriela Hong Kong, Justice for Erwiana and all Migrant Domestic Workers Committee, Jaringan Buruh Migran Indonesia, Open Door, Association for the Advancement of Feminism, Consider the Trouble, Slutwalk HK , Voices of Women Media, Herfund, HK Women Workers Association, Network for Women in Politics, Justice and Peace Commission of the HK Catholic Diocese, Association of Women with Disabilities Hong Kong (香港女障協進會) and JJJ Association (姐姐仔會)
