6:30am, Main Beach, Byron Bay: “In the days leading up to it, the forecast was hit and miss. Showers here, storms there, plenty of uncertainty. But when the day arrived, the skies cleared and so did any doubt that we would show up, no matter what.
At Byron Bay, our V-Day 2026 gathering was more than just an event. It was a statement. Because violence against women and children doesn’t pause for bad weather. It doesn’t wait for blue skies. It doesn’t reschedule itself for convenience. So neither do we.
We showed up with purpose. We showed up with heart. We showed up in solidarity with victim-survivors in our community and beyond. Whether the skies threatened rain or delivered sunshine, our commitment remained the same. The clouds may have been unpredictable, but our resolve wasn’t. Here’s to showing up – rain, hail or shine.”
