16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Jagori Rural Charitable Trust, in collaboration with One Billion Rising, held an event today at Sunehar Panchayat under the theme “Chup Rehna Nahi, Hinsa Sehna Nahi – We Will Not Stay Silent, We Will Not Tolerate Violence.”

Around 150 participants — PRI women leaders, monitoring committee members, students, and community members — came together to raise their voices against violence.

DSP Ankit Sharma, Guest of Honour, stressed that silence encourages violence and urged women and girls to speak up. He highlighted the importance of teaching children equality at home to break patriarchal norms.

Panchayat Pradhan Nirmal Prashar encouraged women to reach out to Jagori’s Nari Adalats, safe spaces for support and justice.

The event also spotlighted the One Billion Rising movement and the need for collective action to end violence against women and girls.
