Here is a snapshot from One Billion Rising India:
On 25 November 2025, JEETA, in collaboration with One Billion Rising, held a powerful stakeholders’ meeting on child marriage, bringing together police officials, schoolgirls, and members of the social sector.
Aligned with this year’s theme — Rise for Our Bodies, Our Future — the event highlighted how protecting our children and youth from early marriage is essential to securing their bodies, rights, and future.
48 Risings of Change events held by the Gramya Resource Centre for Women, Telengana, launching its OBR campaign across the Devarakonda division—beginning on 18 November 2025 and continuing till World Human Rights Day, 10 December.
Under the theme “Rise for Our Bodies – Our Earth – Our Future,” Gramya has so far organized 48 Risings, bringing communities together to challenge child marriage, gender-based violence, and harmful gender norms.
Working across several villages, the team focused on strengthening the role of Panchayats—the backbone of rural self-governance. Through awareness efforts across 34 Panchayats in 6 mandals, Gramya mobilized Panchayat Secretaries, frontline workers, and community members through rallies, poster campaigns, and community discussions.
Outreach in 7 hostels and 7 high schools, reaching 6,356 students through essay & drawing competitions, rights-based dialogues, and youth-led activities
Students raised issues such as sanitation, drinking water, and nutrition, and Gramya supported them in writing letters to district authorities
Gramya’s OBR campaign stands as a powerful example of community-driven action—mobilizing Panchayats, youth, and frontline workers to rise for bodily autonomy, justice, and a safer future for girls, women and gender expansive people.
10 Launches in Chamba/ Kangra districts
Rising for Inclusive Democracy
In a powerful call for Inclusive Democracy, One Billion Rising India has launched its Voter Awareness Campaign, ‘My Vote – My Right’, inspiring citizens to reclaim their voice and shape their future.
Running from 18 November 2025 to January 2026, the campaign is strengthening informed and inclusive participation ahead of the Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh (January 2025), across Kangra and Chamba districts.
In India, Panchayats are the backbone of village self-governance—shaping decisions on water, sanitation, education, health, welfare schemes, and community rights. Jagori’s campaign responds to low voter awareness, limited political inclusion, and lack of clarity on choosing the right candidates, especially among women, youth, and marginalized groups.
So far, in Kangra district, 10 Risings have already been held across 10 Panchayats, engaging communities through voter-awareness video screenings, discussions, and interactive dialogues.
The campaign highlights informed voting, gender-sensitive leadership, and collective responsibility, linking democratic participation to OBR’s call for bodily autonomy, justice, and a shared future.
OBR India continues to rise with communities—building a stronger, more conscious, and inclusive local democracy.
