On 29 November, OBR Lesotho held a launch event – Rising Together Against GBV:
Today we joined Leaders of Change for a meaningful networking session that brought together various organizations committed to creating safer and more empowered communities. What started as a space for introductions and connection quickly grew into deeper conversations about GBV, the challenges we face on the ground, and the collective responsibility we all share in driving change.
We exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and learned from one another, reminding us that collaboration is one of our strongest tools in the fight against violence. Every conversation, every partnership, and every effort brings us closer to a world where safety, dignity, and justice are a reality for all.
We rise, we learn, we act.
On 1 December, the organisers of One Billion Rising Lesotho joined the nation in commemorating World AIDS Day.
We honoured lives lost.
We stood with people living with HIV.
We committed to keep fighting for health and dignity.
We then held our own commemoration.
We tied it to our OBR 2026 theme. Our bodies. Our earth. Our future.
We reminded ourselves that the fight against HIV and AIDS is also a fight for safety.
It is a fight for a future where women and girls live free from harm.
On 7 December, we officially launched the 1 Billion Rising Lesotho 2026 campaign with a bold and energetic street activation at Willow Park. Under the theme ‘Our Bodies. Our Earth. Our Future’, we took to the streets to rise, speak, dance, and demand an end to gender-based violence.
Special thanks to Toka le Bophelo Initiative, Leaders of Change, Lesotho Girl Guides Association, other supporting organisations, and the incredible young people from Machabeng College who showed up in solidarity. Your energy and presence made the day powerful.
The journey has begun — Lesotho is rising!
