“I just wanted to share a powerful summary of Vickenzie Ofei’s inspiring speech as the Country Coordinator of One Billion Rising Ghana and CEO of IRISE GHANA. This movement is all about ending violence against women and girls, and it’s been growing stronger every year since 2012.
Vickenzie spoke about the global impact of One Billion Rising, with over 200 countries now participating. She highlighted the heartbreaking stories of women who’ve faced abuse, like Jyoti Singh and many others who’ve suffered in silence. But she also emphasized the strength and resilience of women rising together to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
In Ghana, One Billion Rising has been a beacon of hope since 2018, empowering women to speak out against abuse in all areas of life whether it’s at home, work, school, or in their communities. Vickenzie reminded us that freedom isn’t just about individual rights; it’s about collective liberation. We’re fighting for a world where every woman can live without fear, with dignity, and with equal opportunities.
This year, the call is to Rise for Freedom, freedom from exploitation, oppression, racism, and harm. Women’s rights are human rights, and they’re non-negotiable. Let’s continue to support each other, lift each other up, and fight for a world where every woman can thrive.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey. Let’s keep rising, resisting, and uniting!” – IRISE GHANA
