On 9th December 2024, Bal Va Mahila Chetna Samiti organized an impactful RISINGS in Maruti Nagar, Bhilwara, Rajasthan as part of the One Billion Rising campaign to raise awareness about witch violence in Rajasthan.
Labelled As Witches In Rajasthan, Women Face Harassment, Torture and Ostracism. Tara Ahluwalia the founder, highlighted the severe social and psychological impacts on women accused of witchcraft, including ostracism and stigma.
Social activists: Parmesh Dev and Bhavana Joshi discussed the root causes—illiteracy, superstition, and patriarchy—and stressed the need for education, awareness, and social change.
Another Activist Shyam Lal reviewed the 2015 law, and called for stronger enforcement of the Rajasthan Women (Witch) Harassment Prevention Act, 2015, and pledged to combat this violence through education, awareness, and victim support.
Survivors shared powerful stories. Together, they committed to ending witch violence and protecting women’s rights.
