RISE for Freedom, Create the New Culture
Our One Billion Rising 2023 call is to Rise for Freedom & Create the New Culture in order to address the devastating consequences of the ongoing vicious systems of patriarchy, imperialism, capitalism and racism in the world today and the destructive battle for power fought over women’s bodies and the body of the earth.
This year’s campaign celebrates 10 years of One Billion Rising and urges communities worldwide to utilize art and activism, creative resistance events and gatherings, both online and offline, to demand an end to violence against women, girls, gender nonconforming and gender expansive people, and the planet and to shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face.
OBR creative resistance events will take various forms including artistic Rising and climate initiatives; new songs, poetry, documentary films, online discussions, panels & events; training with men; allies, flash mobs, and marches and more.

Celebrate V’s Newest Book Reckoning & V25 at 92NY
On Wednesday, 1 February, please join V (formerly Eve Ensler) and V-Day For An Evening of Reckoning and Rising at 92NY featuring V, Paula Allen, Rosario Dawson (V-Day Board Member), Noma Dumezweni, Dylan McDermott, and Marisa Tomei reading from Reckoning as V-Day marks its 25th anniversary in 2023.
Reckoning, the newest book from V, Tony Award-winning, bestselling author of The Vagina Monologues, is the work of a lifetime — political, personal, profound, and more than forty years in the making. V invites us through a lifetime of writing, poetry, and activism, representing the methods through which she survived her own abuse and self-hatred, challenging the myths and narratives that have guided her life and the core of ideas that have become the global V-Day/One Billion Rising movement to end violence against all women (cisgender and transgender), gender-expansive people, girls, and the earth.
In this moment of global reckoning with our past, V explores ways to create an unstoppable force for change, to love and survive love, to hold people and states accountable, to reckon with demons and honor the dead, to reclaim the body, and to see oneself as connected to a greater purpose.
Wednesday, 1 February at 7pm
