Speakers at the Georgia Capitol in the morning included choreographer Debbie Allen, SPANX founder Sara Blakely, Rev. Dr. Bernice King, Rev. Dr. Gerald Durley,Evelyn LoweryLaura Turner Seydel and Bishop Barbara King. They called for increased awareness, education, and prevention efforts through increased funding for initiatives to end violence against women and girls in metro Atlanta and Georgia.

More than 2,000 later held a flash mob at Woodruff Park — the largest flash mob in Atlanta history, the group claimed. It was choreographed and led by Debbie Allen.

One Billion Rising began as a call to action based on the statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime.
