Last week, Azad Foundation organised OBR events in Jahangirpuri, Delhi and in Tangra, Kolkata. In Delhi, the event commenced with a rally in which Azad trainees, women leaders and young men raised slogans to promote women joining non-traditional livelihoods, and end violence against women. Asmita Theatre Group performed a street play on these issues after which women drivers shared their stories of overcoming patriarchal restrictions, inspiring other women in the community to join Women on Wheels program.

In Kolkata, the event was done in collaboration with Know Your Neighbour. A dialogue was initiated to talk about absence of minority women from the public spaces. Paridhi band performed on the occasion and more than 200 people came together to hear our drivers and women from the communities who are boxers, footballers, journalists and etc to share their experiences of working in the non-traditional livelihoods space. Stay tuned for more event updates.
