Brescia House School, Bryanston, South Africa participated in their 5th One Billion Rising event this year. As part of our school’s ethos we teach our girls to stand up for justice, honesty, truth and respect for all humanity.  In the weeks leading up to Valentine’s day, our girls participated in various discussions relating to the exploitation of women and girls and how we could help bring about a better life for women and children across the world. The discussions included learning about children’s rights and responsibilities, tolerance and diversity, standing up against bullies, speaking out and keeping safe. On 14th February the entire school gathered on the field in the shape of our national flag, (which had a little pink heart inserted into it to show our support to another community awareness event) to sing along to the One Billion Rising theme song – Break the Chain.
