OBR Mexico coordinator Andres Naime, together with Rosi Orozco – leading anti trafficking activist in Mexico who has also headed OBR campaigns in the country since 2013 – launched One Billion Rising 2017 in Mexico City last October 17th with a press conference. They were joined by trafficking survivors, OBR advocates and local women’s and human rights groups and activists. Trafficking has been the main Rising focus of OBR Mexico since the first year of the campaign – and the country has seen major risings taking place in almost every city and town since then. This year OBR Mexico is focusing on trafficking and the exploitation of women workers, engaging grassroots groups to lead the campaign.

OBR Mexico was also part of the International Forum Against Human Trafficking in Mexico City – where Andres and Rosi took part to announce One Billion Rising – and where both local and international delegates to the forum, from as far as Argentina, Germany, France and Sweden, committed to join One Billion Rising and to Rise in Solidarity Against the Exploitation Against Women.
