Amidst increasing need, the Simeen mobile health team continues its work. Last month, the team visited the Logar province and the Parwan province in northern Afghanistan. They spent time in communities living in politically volatile conditions, subject to sporadic invasions and fighting caused by the Taliban. Most community members have little to no access to clean water, health care, stable housing, and education and most of the patients were pregnant or nursing mothers and children. Many children suffered from malnutrition and pneumonia. Female health team members gave knowledge and advice on hygiene, birth control, and COVID-19 care. The team was able to care for well over 200 patients, but the need for health care and clean drinking water is still urgent.
