We managed to carry out the Bira– like activity though we ended up doing it indoors due to weather conditions. Everything went well and we received overwhelming support from men who were attending our activities for the first time. They bought in the idea of chiefs signing to commit to act on VAW. We had targeted 3 chiefs to sign but 2 paramount chiefs signed, the 3rd one’s area of jurisdiction is under one of the chiefs who signed. They both supported the initiative and promised to actualize it-the long journey thus begins! It will be up to us to hold them to account and to ensure that perpetrators are held responsible and victims are protected from reprisals.
