Maureen Samulela Tresha is the National Coordinator for one billion Rising , Zambia. She is also the National Director at Women and law in Southern Africa (WLSA), Lecturer at Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education, and Commissioner at Small Claims Court

She is in the Steering Committee of the Solidarity of African Women’s Rights (SOAWR) monitoring implementation of the Maputo protocol; and through WLSA, a Member of the Southern Africa Gender Protocol Alliance monitoring implementation of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.

She has worked in various positions and institutions focusing on protecting the rights of women and children. This has entailed litigation for them, sensitising them on their rights, sensitising the communities on the children and women’s rights; and capacity building of the police, traditional leaders, CSOs and some Judiciary staff on GBV related laws. It further entails holding meetings with the Members of Parliament to advocate for law reform and implementation of laws that are in existence.

She holds a master’s in Business Administration, post graduate diploma in legislative drafting and a law degree.
