My name is Lydia Boons and this is what justice looks like:
Men and women hand-in-hand on terms of equality building a better world.
Violence and discrimination against women is a grave injustice that affects us all and has a negative impact on all aspects of our lives.
Men and women are equal and only together real progress can be made.
It is my conviction that we do not realize enough the detrimental impact of gender inequality for humanity and world peace.
I therefore strive to raise global awareness about the importance of gender equality so that people understand that only when men and women are equally treated humanity will succeed in building a loving, tolerant, prosperous and peaceful world.
I would like to end with a poem of Saadi – a Persian poet;
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you’ve no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain!
