I am Karen Steinberg and my revolution is our evolution.
I am a therapist and founder of The Possibility Practice in New York City, where people from all walks of life work together to grow. 1 in 3 women will be beaten or raped during their lifetime – straight, gay and transwomen – mostly at the hands of men and boys. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. It raises the question: If we have moved so far forward, why are we still so backward?
– Legislation makes violence illegal. It does not transform us.
– Recently a video of Dr. Martin Luther King giving a talk in London in 1964 was discovered. In it, he said: “You cannot change problems in the realm of human relations through legislation. You have got to change the heart.”
– We are stuck in a species adolescence – we act violently to a perceived or actual wrong.
We do not know how to talk, listen or look at ourselves and each other. We are defensive and fearful. If we are to change how we live together on the planet, WE have to evolve; we have to grow, and recreate what it means to be human beings. This is everyone’s issue and everyone’s work. Creating a more humane world on a small and large scale requires all of our creativity and all of our evolution. I am rising for our evolution in therapy and workshops and classes, and you are all invited .
In 2015, I am rising for our evolution.
