Violence and abuse can take many forms and none are acceptable. Bringing Women and Men together as equals to stand against the Violence around the world that women suffer is the only way to bring about positive change. I have recently read and signed a petition which is hoping to create a register listing anyone who has a history of stalking and violence towards previous partners for the pubic to use so future potential partners of such individuals can know what they are getting into. The petition in question has been created by the women’s families as the women themselves had been murdered by their former partners who had a history of stalking and violence. Then there were stories of other women who had survived but have had to move, leave their jobs, change their names and more to escape the abuse while the perpetrator had suffered no such consequences. Women in areas of India are afraid to go out, look at and speak to men and have huge restrictions placed on their lives for fear of rape and murder. Women should not have to live with this fear. No one should have to live in fear.

We need to stand together and move as one. One Billion Rising.
