I will be dancing in memory of my sister, Debbie. Though most of you never had the opportunity to meet her, you would have loved her. She was killed in 1981 by two strangers who broke into her apartment in Boston. The world lost a beautiful, kind and intelligent woman that day.
You are welcome to dance in memory of her or anyone who you know who has been impacted by violence. The statistics are staggering. On our planet, one in every three women will be beaten or raped in her lifetime. This group is calling on people everywhere to "harness their power for justice" on Valentine's Day, Feb 14th.
I am also an Emergency Medicine physician who sees daily the senseless, horrific violence in our society.
