About The Event

We will bring together students, critics, members of staff, and creative practitioners to engage in critiques, performances, and readings aimed at resisting and overcoming violence and discrimination, both globally and on campus. We are in the early stages of planning some social media campaigns and publications. Guest Speaker: Film-maker, Activist and Writer - Xiaolu Guo Born 1973 in China and moved to the UK in 2002. She has directed several award winning films including SHE, A CHINESE (Golden Leopard Award at the Locarno Film Festival 2009) and UFO IN HER EYES (City of Venice Award 2013). Her most well-known books are A CONCISE CHINESE ENGLISH DICTIONARY FOR LOVERS and I AM CHINA. Guo is named by Granta as one of the Best of British Young Novelists (BOBYN) in 2013.
