About The Event
One Billion Rising is a global campaign to end violence against women, rise for justice and promote gender equality. It was started in 2012 as part of the V-Day movement. The "billion" refers to the UN statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in their lifetime, or about one billion. In 2012, the One Billion Rising campaign culminated in the biggest mass global action to end violence against women ever with tens of thousands of events held in more than 190 countries.

The Moxie Initiative is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Salem, Oregon.
We organize TEDxSalem as well as other community building events.
About The Organizer
Brian Hart and Carlee Wright
Carlee Wright is the Entertainment Reporter for the Statesman Journal, community supporter and co-curator of the 2013 and 2014 Tedx Salem events. She is the co-founder of Cherry City Derby Girls, Salem’s first roller derby league.
Brian Hart is a Producer at Allied Video, a community supporter, and co-curator of two TEDx Salem events in 2013 and 2014 with the respective themes "Illumination" and "Got Moxie?" He serves as a board member for the Salem Progressive Film Series.
