About The Organization

Ashé Cultural Arts Center

Mission statement:
Ashé Cultural Arts Center’s mission is to use art and culture to support equity, human, community and economic development. Ashé is an initiative of Efforts of Grace, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3), organization that creates and supports programs, activities, and creative works emphasizing the contributions of people of African descent.

About Ashé Cultural Arts Center:
Located in Central City, the Center provides opportunities for art presentations, community development, artist support, and the creation of partnerships that amplify outreach and support efforts. During the post-hurricane Katrina recovery, Ashé acted as a community-based center for the activities of ReBuild New Orleans and took a leadership role in implementing the strategy to repopulate the Central City neighborhood with its former residents, as well as with new, like-minded neighbors. Ashé houses a repertoire of original theater works that are available for touring, and provides sponsorship for many private, public, community-focused, and family-oriented events.

Ashé creates and supports programs, activities, and creative works emphasizing the contributions of artists, writers, performers, actors, dancers, and speakers from New Orleans and around the world. Located on the historic corridor of Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., the Center provides opportunities for theater, dance, visual art shows, presentations, community development, artist support, and the creation of partnerships that amplify outreach and support efforts.
