About The Event
In 2013, One Billion Rising (OBR) had 207 countries and over 1 BILLION people rise, and this year OBR hope to do the same on Valentine's Day 2014. This year, AWCL asks you to meet in Luxembourg Center on place d'Armes at 15:30 and take a stand for women's justice issues. Last year, organizers had nearly 150 people show up with the aim of bringing awareness to an important issue, violence against women. This year, we are inviting you to stand with family, friends, colleagues and strangers on another important issue, justice. What is justice to you? Why should we celebrate it? Come and learn why while seeing how others express their vision of a just future.
We ask you to bring your own One Billion Rising t-shirt or wear black, white and red. Don't forget to bring your ''Justice is...'' poster to show the world what justice means to you. The more people talk about their vision for justice, the closer we come to living in the world we envision. Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love, so what better way to spend the day then with others who love to spread equality? After a brief welcoming we will dance together uniting a community in a celebration for justice. We will hold a 30 minute zumba instruction with the Break the Chain Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL5N8rSy4CU) starting us off.
