Artists from all over the United States have been selected to exhibit work at the ONE BILLION RISING National Juried Art Exhibition at Polk State College. This exhibition has been judged by Claire Orologas , the Executive director of the Polk Museum of Art.
Artworks include, Painting, Drawing, Illustration, photography, Video, and sculpture.
Artists Arise! Polk State College is hosting a National Juried Art Exhibition in reaction to the staggering facts regarding Violence against women. One Billion Rising is named for a troubling statistic, that one in three women, or an estimated 1 billion women, will be physically abused in her lifetime. PSC will display chosen artworks concerning Women's Rights and ending violence against women, from every perspective. The gallery will display paintings, drawings, sculptures and videos that expose both the stories of violence and also the victories in overcoming violence. This exhibition is a powerful display of struggle, empowerment, and victory.
It is for a great cause: Donations are welcome during the Reception on February 6th from 5:30pm-7:30pm . Polk State Fine Arts has agreed to donate all funds collected from the National Juried Art Exhibition- One Billion Rising to the Womens Resource Center of Florida and the Peace River Center of Polk County to help women in crisis in central florida.
