About The Event
Hers, Theirs...Ours will be a new production this year at Tulane University that will be replacing our annual performances of "The Vagina Monologues". HTO is a completely original and house-written show that still focuses on issues of gender-based violence and oppression. We hope to create a play that is a conversation about what it means to experience gender-based violence as women and non-binary & gender non-conforming folks, to open up this conversation to those who have been denied access to the Vagina Monologues community on basis of gender, and to acknowledge that all experiences of gendered oppression cannot and should not be homogenized across class, race, ability and various other identities.
It will take place over the weekend of April 15-April 17, 2016
About The Organization
Hers, Theirs...Ours Tulane
Hers, Theirs...Ours (HTO) is a community at Tulane University that pairs activism with artistic interpretation. Formerly the Vagina Monologues, this group of people is working to address issues of gender-based violence and oppression on our campus, as well as the community as a whole.
Our goals are: speaking out to eradicate gender-based violence, creating a safe space to grow and learn from each other’s experiences with gender based violence and oppression, and building a production relevant to Tulane students and something that can be passed down for future years! We are so excited to be continuing the amazing work that the Vagina Monologues community has done at our university and are ready to take the next step in opening the doors of this family even more to include the stories of those who were not able to be a part of the show in previous years!
