About The Event
Join MIGS to rise and dance to end violence against women!
Nicosia, 14.02.2014
On the 14th February 2014 one billion women and men are expected to strike, dance and rise for justice in an effort to end violence against women. Having in mind that one of every three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends. Yet, most of the world remains silent and indifferent. The time has come to put a stop to the violence, and to the silence that surrounds it by claiming justice.
MIGS is going to be part of this global call for justice, and will organise a surprise event in Nicosia on 14 February 2014 at the Mall of Cyprus in partnership with the University of Nicosia, the Cyprus Family Planning Association and the Cyprus Centrer for Intercultural Studies [including flash mob, dissemination of information material by NGOs working in the field of VAW].
One Billion Rising will make the earth move by uniting us through music and dance across every country, showing the world our collective strength and solidarity across borders.
