My version of the One Billion Rising Revolution would never see another woman or girl shamed for herself, her body, her sexuality, or her pursuits. It would never allow for another woman to be assaulted or abused in homes or in schools or in the streets or re-abused under police, medical, or legal questioning. My revolution demands accountability for colleges who fail to take the issue of sexual assault seriously. My revolution includes all those who identify as women or girls, regardless of the gendered boxes they’ve been put in. My revolution believes in beauty and freedom and safety and power and love, and fights viciously for those for all women. MY REVOLUTION THINKS VAGINAS ARE BEAUTIFUL, and is TIRED of media telling me that they are ugly or dirty or impure or inappropriate. My revolution would remind every woman and girl of her inherent worth and make clear that that worth is not defined by others, nor can it be taken away by her assailant or her abuser. I would remind her that she is loved and that she is whole.
