I believe that for true change to take deep roots, it must begin at a young age. Educating men on how prevalent violence against women is and what they can do to help end it is a good first step. Beyond that however, boys must be taught from grade school onward what constitutes violence against women and how they can not only avoid perpetrating it themselves but also how they can help stop it when they see it happening.
Also, girls must be taught to stand together…so many times, girls are taught to compete against each other, to put each other down. They are taught it’s okay to be “mean girls”. This must stop. So many times, I have seen sexist and misogynist comments, not only from men, but from other women and that is more shocking than anything else.
