YWCA NorthEastern NY presents The Vagina Monologues

United States > Schenectady > Proctors Theater, Schenectady New York > 2020-02-28 > 07:00 pm

About The Event

YWCA NENY presents a special production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues at Proctors GE Theater on February 28th, 2020 in an effort to raise funds for our domestic violence programs. Join us as some well-known faces from the Capital Region take to the stage to recreate a production of this iconic storytelling piece on behalf of women everywhere, still impactful in today’s #MeToo society 22 years after its initial production on Broadway. Stories are read by the cast on thought-provoking, anger stirring, and empowering topics such as sexual experiences-consensual and non-consensual, body image, sexual harassment, reproductive encounters, and sexuality itself. If you aren’t familiar with YWCA, they are the largest provider of domestic violence services in the US with our local YWCA in Schenectady serving nearly 4,000 women and families each year with comprehensive support services which include a domestic violence hotline, shelter, counseling, advocacy, and more! On a mission to eliminate racism and empower women, YWCA NorthEastern NY invites you to share in this special night, celebrating and honoring the strength and sense of humor of women everywhere!
