About The Event
West Michigan RISES this February! Imagine local community members, college students, neighbors, and friends gathering together to dance in unison and RISE against domestic and sexual violence.
Sponsors for West Michigan RISES! include Center for Women in Transition, GVSU Women’s Center, GVSU Eyes Wide Open, Kent County Health Department, Girls Incorporated at the YWCA West Central Michigan, and National Organization of Women - Grand Rapids Chapter.
The international One Billion Rising for Justice campaign is a single-day global action occurring on Valentine's Day to raise awareness about the prevalence of domestic and sexual violence. Last year, on February 14, 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls. This year, West Michigan joins the movement.
Let’s help West Michigan RISE by gathering and dancing together at noon on February 14, 2014 at the GVSU Allendale Campus, 1110 Kirkhof Center Lobby, 1 Campus Drive in Allendale, Mich. See facebook.com/WestMIRISES for details.
