About The Event
We are pleased to invite you to a special performance of The Vagina Monologues, presented by the URI Women's Center and the Gender and Sexuality Center. The URI community has been performing the Vagina Monologues for over 20+ years
Written 27 years ago, Vagina Monologues is based on writer V’s (formerly Eve Ensler) “Vagina Interviews” conducted with 200 women all around the world.
The play is a compilation of monologues performed by various women that address the issues of violence against women, rape, domestic violence, and genital mutilation. The play is unorthodox and at times shocking.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the URI Women’s Center and the URI Gender and Sexuality Center. Your support will help these centers continue their critical work in fostering a community focused on gender equity, free from violence and oppression. Their core values include creating a campus culture where all individuals feel valued and safe and contributing to an environment where everyone is empowered to embrace and express their authentic selves.
