About The Event

The time has come again to rise and stand up against violence against women. No longer are women remaining silent about the violence and exploitation they've experienced. No longer are men able to hide behind the silence. The time is NOW to engage and activate the men in our families, social circles and community. For so long, this has been viewed as a woman's issue. The narrative is finally being changed making violence a man's issue. Let's work together to help the men in our lives play an active role in becoming a part of the solution. We'll be kicking things off with a unifying and centering guided meditation led by Aaron Knowles Dias and then learn about the ways men are being brought into the conversation. Jeanne Brooks will then facilitate a discussion about ways to activate ourselves and the men in our lives. Come with questions, concerns, answers or just your curiosity. We have the power to affect our own community creating waves of change across the globe! Joining us in this conversation will be Karen Haines Storch, Program Director of the Washbourne House and Emily Trotter-Bodie, Program Director of their Non-Resident program. They will also discuss the resources that are available to those in need as well as ways the community can better support them in all they do to help survivors of domestic violence. We'll be taking cash and goods donations for the Washbourne House. If you're unable to attend but would like to make a donation to support their work, please contact Theresa Lyn Widmann who will coordinate. Refreshments graciously provided by our hostess and co-organizer Tarah Gay of outdated: an antique café. *Women is an inclusive term reflecting all those who were assigned and/or identify as female.
