About The Event

As women all over the world rise on Feb 14 we cannot be silent. Come together NYC, and rise with us.
NOTE to all:
THERE ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE SIGNED UP THAN ARE LISTED.
We are hosting two events:

MEET AT 1pm at Judson Church (the side entrance NOT the main church entrance) The door to use is:
239 Thompson St.
1:30pm a silent installation that will stretch on the pathways of Washington Sq. Park: women, standing in pairs, seeing one another.

This is a short, simple, real-life "art" installation to demonstrate the importance of women seeing and hearing one another without judgement. We can not stay marginalized if we truly see and hear one another.

About The Organizer

Melissa Riker with Zillah Eisenstien, GIRL BE HEARD and the 4th U Artivists

Melissa Riker is a choreographer and activist. She empowers women's voices through dance and action. Her dance company, Kinesis Project dance theatre creates large-scale, out-door performances and flashmobs. She has been creating flashmobs for OBR since our first step out to shake the earth in 2013.

Zillah Eisenstein has been Professor of Politics at Ithaca College in New York for the last 35 years and is presently a Distinguished Scholar in Residence. She at present writes regularly for Al Jazeera.com and FeministWire.com. Throughout her career her books have tracked the rise of neoliberalism both within the U.S. and across the globe. She has documented the demise of liberal democracy and scrutinized the growth of imperial and militarist globalization. She has also critically written about the attack on affirmative action in the U.S., the masculinist bias of law, the crisis of breast cancer and AIDS, the racism of patriarchy and the patriarchal structuring of race, the new nationalisms, corporatist multiculturalism, and the newest gendered and classed formations of the planet.

GIRL BE HEARD uses theater as our vehicle to empower young women to become brave, confident, socially conscious leaders and explore their own challenging circumstances.

The 4th U Artivists mission is to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women globally and locally through creative projects (theater and dance productions, concerts, and art shows) presented under the auspices of the Fourth Universalist Society in the City of New York.
