About The Event

On February 14th, the Institute of Jamaica will host a day of Rising for Justice activities (from 11:00 am- 4:00 pm), to include the screening of a documentary [that examines the issue firsthand], a panel discussion, and moving performances by some of Jamaica’s best and most prolific artistes. The panel will feature Joyce Hewett (Woman Inc.), Georgia Love (Women’s Media Watch), Kevin Wallen (SET Foundation & Jamaica Wrestling Federation), Carrot Jarrett (RJR & Third World), Camile Swapp (Swapp Associates), and Marjorie Samuels (Eve for Life). Cordel Green, Executive Director, Jamaica Broadcasting Commission, will moderate. Panelists will speak to the impact of gender-based violence in Jamaica and the Caribbean and be asked their perspectives on this year’s theme, “Rising for Justice.” Following the panel, Sistren Theatre Collective, Cherry Natural, Oku Onuora, No-Maddz, Hempress Sativa and other surprise guests will grace the stage with moving performances you won’t want to miss.

About The Organization

Ennufff

Karen and Damali started Ennufff just over two years ago. Ennufff is a monthly Internet radio show hosted on Blog Talk Radio. To date, the show has garnered over 14,000 listeners. They also have loyal readers, followers and friends, who frequently visit the program’s blogs, Facebook, and Twitter pages. Ennufff (a patois version of the English word “enough”) was birthed from Karen and Damali’s personal experiences with sexual violence in Jamaica. Through these traumatic events, they started the process and journey to healing. Ennufff is part of this on-going journey. Raising awareness about sexual violence, and the impact on its victims/survivors, in Jamaica, throughout the Caribbean and the Diaspora, has become their mandate. Ennufff is a social media platform that gives a voice to this mandate. Karen and Damali want the world to know that they’ve had ennufff (enough) of violence against women and children. Therefore, Ennufff is platform to educate, empower, and heal.
