WEN member Edessa Ramos is organising her MBA students to go to the rooftop terrace of their college and join women around the world in 1 Billion Rising for Justice.
WEN is a non-profit organization that works for woman and child rights, social justice and gender equality. It focuses on empowerment of women, preventing violence through awareness and preparedness, legal literacy and livelihood improvement for urban poor.
Edessa is a theatre artist, writer, educator, and counter-violence instructor, with 30 years experience worldwide. She has a bachelors and 2 masters degrees from US and Philippine universities, with expertise in gender studies, human security, and business continuity. She currently works as Senior Lecturer in a business college in Kathmandu. In addition, as Senior Security Expert, she teaches self-defence and gender security to international female development workers in Nepal. Well-travelled in some of the world's most dangerous countries, she joined Women Empowerment Nepal to teach self-defense for women and girls.
