About The Event
Come join a mic check at the BART station with Stop Patriarchy's call to action for women's liberation, while calling out and tearing up pornography, which degrades women and reduces them to sex objects, and the scriptures from the "sacred texts" of patriarchy that command the subordination of women to men in the name of religion and tradition: two concentrations of the objectification and dehumanization of women in society. At the end, the pages are ripped up, music plays / drums kick in and we will dance, stomp and smash on the porn and the Bible verses. Bring drums if you'd like, or a scripture or objectifying images of women to desecrate and dance on their ruins. Between the pope and the pornographer, there is no fundamental difference. Stop the war on women! From -Sunsara Taylor, initiator of Stop Patriarchy!, in an interview on the 2013 Abortion Rights Freedom Ride: "There really is no fundamental difference between reducing women to breeders, to objects just for turning out babies, and reducing women to sex objects to be plundered and humiliated and used and abused for the sexual titillation of men. That's all part of a package of a real revenge against women. We're fighting all of that." Afterwards, we will engage passersby in conversation about the need for the full liberation of women, and to end patriarchy, to end all the systemic violence against women. Then we will join the rising at SF City Hall at 3:30.
About The Organization
"Women are not objects. Women are not things to be used for the sexual pleasure of men NOR are they breeders of children. WOMEN ARE HUMAN BEINGS CAPABLE OF FULL EQUALITY IN EVERY REALM!
It is long past time that this new generation stand up, reject, and RESIST this culture of rape and pornography; this culture that labels women “selfish” if they choose not to become mothers; this culture that reduces women and girls to sexualized objects while denying their full multi-dimensional humanity (including their right—as one essential part of this—to explore their sexuality without shame or stigma); this culture that demonizes and bullies LGBT people."
