About The Event

On behalf of the Domestic Violence Action Centre Ipswich and Ipswich City Council, we invite you to join us on Tuesday 14 February 2017 to rise up and dance as part of the global One Billion Rising Brisbane movement to end violence against women and girls. Held at Studio 188, the new creative performance arts space owned by Ipswich City Council, this event is from 6:30pm until 8pm. Featuring local dance teachers and studios, this event is about dancing in solidarity against the exploitation of women. Councillor Kylie Stoneman will open our event, and then we will dance to the official One Billion Rising Song. Afterward there will be more dancing led by our local dance teachers. Entry is by donation, which will be used to raise funds to continue the excellent work of the Domestic Violence Action Centre. We will also have some prizes for dancing from local awesome sponsors! Use #riseinsolidarity #dvacipswich #fightagainstviolence #violenceagainstwomen #onebillionrising to show your support leading up to the event, and to show us your pictures from the night! No experience is required – just come along and rise in solidarity, and have some fun while you’re there!
