About The Event

#RiseInSolidarity as we launch our One Billion Rising campaign, and kick off Philippine Solidarity Week by remembering who we fight for and what we are up against. RISE against fascism, RESIST the militarization of our lands, communities, and bodies, and UNITE for self-determination! | Join GABRIELA NY for a reportback on a recent exposure trip to Mindanao, highlighting the plight of the displaced Moro people and their struggle for self-determination. To amplify the voices of the impacted communities, we are also holding a film screening of DEFEND, a documentary on life under martial law. This event is a fundraiser for the next international solidarity mission to the Philippines in February. | January 28th from 4-7PM San Damiano Hall @ 127 W 31st St. $10-$20 suggested donation (No one turned away for lack of funds) | Cultural performances, food & refreshments, raffle prizes, LAKAS zine & other GAB NY items for sale! Childcare provided upon request. | We are proud to present DEFEND—a documentary on martial law in Mindanao and its effects on the Moro, Lumad, and farmers. Hear the stories of Mindanaoans as they challenge the government's narrative that there are no human rights violations under martial law. | RSVP: www.tinyurl.com/riseandresistreportback | Funds from this reportback will go toward supporting the next exposure trip!
